A small moth with golden-bronze forewings, each with three or four darker spots; wing span is about 18 to 25 mm. It is an important pest, as its larvae feed on almost any material of animal origin which remains undisturbed and slightly damp. Occasionally attacks materials of vegetable origin, such as various foodstuff and even cork mats.
