Pieces of white salt-glazed stoneware

Do I look like an orange?

These hard, white pieces of broken plate have intricate patterns on them so they must have been made in a mould. If you look at the surface closely you can see lots of tiny dimples, a bit like the surface of an orange. This is characteristic of pots that have been glazed using salt or sodium chloride. It provides a hard shiny layer on the surface of the pot. This type of pottery was made during the 18th century.
